Skilled Operative (GR1007)

Purpose of job

Support the safe & timely delivery of project activities, ensuring compliance with all BMS/SHEQ requirements. Ensuring that works activities are carried out effectively, to agreed programme and specification.

Principal Accountability

The Skilled Operative is accountable for, but not limited to, the following within each project(s): Ensuring that works activities are carried out effectively, to agreed programme and specification. Undertake operations to ensure works are completed to the highest standard, complying with contract specification and preventing remedial action.

Detailed Responsibilities

The Skilled Operative is responsible for, but not limited to, the following for project (s):

  • Comply with the Company H&S Roles & Responsibilities & legislative requirements
  • Ensure they have been trained and assessed as competent to undertake the tasks assigned to them. Understand the controls identified to safely manage the risks associated with the construction activities.
  • Undertake tasks assigned to them by Site Supervisor/Foreman.
  • Taking care of own H&S and that of others who might be affected by actions
  • Maintain positive client/stakeholder/public
  • Ensure understanding of induction training, RAMS, POWRA’s, toolbox talks, safety alerts, lessons learnt and other project/company notices relevant to operations.
  • Complete and maintain pre-use checks and equipment inspections as relevant to the role undertaken (i.e. plant checks)
  • Ensure timesheets are populated with accurate information, acknowledged and authorised by the Site Management Team.

Desirable experience, qualifications, and training

  • CSCS Card with applicable NVQ level 2
